Notes for Nicasius DE SILLE
Nicasius came to Amsterdam from Mechlin in Belgium soon after the revolt of the United Provinces against Spain. He was chosen Pensionary of that city and sent in 1587 with others on an embassy to Queen Elizabeth of England. He was ambassador to Denmark and afterwards to Germany and was repeatedly sent as Deputy to the States General and was twice commissioner to the army whilst in the field.He was buried in the choir of the Red Church Amsterdam.
