Doris Katterhenry, 78, of Evansville, died Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at Select Specialty Hospital.
Doris graduated from Huntingburg High School in 1946 and Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in 1949.
She was a registered nurse, but chose to be a stay-at-home mother with her children.
Doris was a lifelong member of Methodist Temple since 1952.
She learned how to knit in the seventh grade and especially enjoyed knitting Christmas stockings. In her lifetime, she knitted a total of 183 stockings. When she wasn't knitting, Doris enjoyed genealogy. She researched both her mother and father's families and traced a branch of her family back to 1560 in Germany.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Helen Lohman, and sister, Marilyn Hasler.
Doris is survived by her husband of 56 years, Glenn Katterhenry of Evansville; sons, Robert Katterhenry of Evansville and Joseph Katterhenry and wife, Nancy of Newburgh; daughter, Jane Henrickson and husband, Bruce of Boonville, Ind.; grandchildren, Mark Katterhenry, April Baker, Stephanie Sowards, Wade Henrickson, and Rachel and Kate Henrickson (twin granddaughters); brother, Bill Lohman of Huntingburg, Ind.; brothers-in-law, Dale Hasler of Santa Claus, Ind., and Bill Katterhenry and wife, Louella of St. Louis; stepsister, Jerlene Peach of Holland, Ind.; and stepbrother, Joe Todrank of Las Vegas.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2007, at Methodist Temple, officiated by the Rev. Kevin McKinney, with burial at Alexander Park Lawn. Friends may visit from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Alexander East Chapel and from noon until service time Saturday at the church.
