Elvena H. Hinrichs formerly of Arlington Heights
Funeral services for Elvena H. Hinrichs (nee Leckband), 89, of University City, Mo., for the past nine years, formerly a longtime resident of Arlington Heights, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights. The Rev. John Kah will officiate. Born June 30, 1911, in Dexter, Iowa, she died Monday, March 12, 2001, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights. In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Hinrichs enjoyed her work as a seamstress for many years before moving to the St. Louis area. She was the beloved wife of the late Oscar E. Hinrichs, whom she married June 2, 1935, in Arlington Heights; loving mother of Donald R. (Bonnie) Hinrichs of Amelia Court House, Va., Yvonne E. Simmons of University City, Paul A. (Irene) Hinrichs of Bakersfield, Calif., and Scott B. (Judy) Hinrichs of Hamlin, N.Y.; dear grandmother of nine; and great-grandmother of eight. The youngest of 12 children, Elvena is also survived by one brother, Ottomar Leckband of Ocheyeden, Iowa. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services Friday, at the funeral home.
