Miss Clara Koenig and Richard Wilke Married
The St. Peter’s Lutheran church was the scene of a large and very pretty wedding on Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. when Miss Clara Koenig, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Koenig, became the bride of Mr. Richard Wilke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wilke.
Rev. Fricke read the marriage service before the altar which was banked with pink and white peonies and preceding the ceremony, Miss Elvira Koeneke sang “The Lord is My Shepherd” accompanied at the organ by Mr. Lunde, who also played the wedding march.
The bride chose for her wedding gown satin trimmed with lace, and her veil was of tulle. She carried white roses.
Miss Erna? Reese served as maid of honor and the bridesmaids were Miss Nelda Studuman, Miss Gertrude Hina, Mrs. Norman Greenacre and Miss Shirley Wilke. The maid of honor wore a gown of pink velvarny and carried talisman roses. The gowns of the bridesmaids were in pastel shades of blue and yellow velvaray and their flowers were colonial bouquets of pink and yellow roses.
Myrna Keiser and Myra Landmeier, nieces of the bride, served as flower girls and wore long dresses of blue organdy and carried colonial nosegays of red roses.
The groom’s attendants were Mr. Frank Colba, who served as best man and Roland Koenig, brother of the bride and Mr. Norman Greenacre, who served as ushers. They were formally attired.
Mrs. Koenig was gowned in blue lace with a corsage of roses and the groom’s mother wore a dress of flowered chiffon and a rose corsage.
Following the wedding service a dinner was served to 64 guests in the school hall and was followed by a reception at the home of the bride’s sister, Mrs. Wm. Keiser, at 514 North State rd., where many more friends came to greet the bride and groom.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilke are both graduates of the local high school with the class of ‘33, and Mrs. Wilke has been employed at the J.B. Crofoot Co. in Mt. Prospect and the groom is employed as a butcher at the National Tea Co. in Marrington.
The young couple left for a week’s motor trip to Northern Michigan, and upon their return will be at home in Barrington.
Guests from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Zummallen and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hoppe of Cissnapark, Ill., and Mrs. Floyd Wolfe and children of Iowa City.
