Lester Detre Is Dead at 57


Lester E. Detre, 57, of 305 S. McKinley av., Dover, well-known bowler and golfer and a utilities supervisor for the State Highway Department, died Friday afternoon in Union Hospital after a lingering illness.

In 1946 he came to Dover from Warren, where he was associated with Thomas Steel Co., to establish the plating department at Greer Steel Co.

Born in Southing ton, O., a son of George and Nora Detre, he was a member of the American Electroplating Society, New Philadelphia Eagles Lodge and First Christian Churh of Southington.

Surviving are his widow, the former Mildred Rearick, a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Barbara; Strader of Buena Park, Calif; a sister, Mrs. C.J. (Laurie) Jackson of Warren; a brother, Elmer of Ashtabula, and a granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Rev. Herbert Schlotterbeck will officiate at services Monday at 1:30 p.m. in Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, where friends may call Sunday from 7 to 9. Interment will be in Evergreen Burial Park.
