"Hersh" Jr.
Herthel James "Hersh" Hite Jr., age 59, of Wauseon, Ohio, died Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Hite owned and operated Heartland Homes of Swanton.
Herthel was a Servant of God, husband, father, son, friend and Marine. To his one and only wife, he gave a committed heart, always fulfilling his promises of a lasting marriage. To his family, he gave treasured moments of grand life experiences. His life purpose was to guide his family to loving his Lord and praising Him for all His many blessings. To his church, he provided leadership and fortitude. Always striving to meet the needs of his church family, never expecting anything in return. He was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church. To his community, he brought prosperous businesses and upstanding character. He was a lifelong resident of Fulton County. To his country, he gave many days and hours to help provide security and freedom. He was a member of the United States Marine Corps. To his friends, he gave his wisdom, a cheerful countenance, and a forgiving heart. His friends will always remember him as a friend who never let them down. His memory will never fade! He was an integral part of many lives in whom hearts will be devastatingly saddened at the loss of this most amazingly precious being.

He was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 27, 1945, the son of Herthel and Mary (Daugherty) Hite Sr. On January 11, 1968, he married Sharon Pontious, and she survives. He was a longtime member of the Wauseon American Legion Post. He was also a member of the Thresher's Association, and the Fulton County Sportsman's Club.

Surviving besides his wife, Sharon, are two daughters, Marka Rupp of Wauseon, Ohio and Ashley Eyer of Wauseon, Ohio; one son, Justin Hite of Wauseon, Ohio; mother, Mary Daugherty Hite of Wauseon; two sisters, Loraine Pasch of Wauseon, Ohio and Lucinda Hite of Liberty Center, Ohio; two brothers, Ivan Hite of Wauseon, Ohio and David Hite of Wauseon, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2005, at Haven Heights Baptist Church in Wauseon, with the Rev. Randy Titus, officiating. Interment will follow in the Wauseon Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-9 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Faith Baptist Church or Hospice of Williams and Fulton Counties.
