Amy G. Edmunds Dies in Vegas
Amy G. Edmunds, Virginia City native and long time school teacher, died this morning in Las Vegas where she was visiting her sister, Mrs. Marion E. Cahlan.
Miss Edmunds was born in Virginia City in 1878 and graduated from University of Nevada in 1897. She went to Columbia university in New York to obtain her master’s degree and spent most of her life teaching in Butte, Mont. and in the vocational high school in Minneapolis, Minn.
Since her retirement in 1946 she had made her home in Reno and was active in the YWCA and the American Association of University Women.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Cahlan and Mrs. Alice Sauer of Franktown; four nieces, Mrs. Gertrude Leary of San Francisco, Mrs. Jean Fry of Reno, Mrs. Myra Ratay of Lexington, Mass., and Mrs. Alice Lohse of Reno and two nephews, A.E. and John Cahlan of Las Vegas.
Funeral services and cremation will be held in Sacramento.
