Bride-to-Be Widely Feted
These are busy days for Mildred Cliff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cliff of Carson Valley, who will become the bride of Joe Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. T.G. Williams of Reno of February 12.
The engagement of this popular young couple was informally announced a fortnight ago. The ceremony will be performed at the Federated Church by William Moll Case.
Dorothy Cliff, sister of the bridr-to-be, will be the only attendant, and Frank Tomsic, brother-in-law of the benedict-elect, will be the best man.
The bride-to-be attended the University of Nevada and is a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. The bridegroom, who is the manager of the Lakeside Pharmacy, also attended the University of Nevada and is affliated with the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
A duo of charming hostesses, Mrs. Frank Tomsic and Mrs. Thomas Doherty, sister and aunt of the bridegroom, honored the bride-to-be at a miscellaneous sower[sic] Saturday evening.
The candlelighted table was exquisite with lace cloth over pink satin and all crystal service. Centering the table was a huge gondola carrying a bride and groom placed on a mirror symbolic of happily sailing on the “sea of matrimony”. The favors were miniature sailboats with pink hearts forming the masts.
The diversion of the evening was “Bingo” and the prize was won by the honored guest. At a late hour refreshments were served.
Participating in the evening’s enjoyment were Mesdames Fred L. Cliff, T.G. Williams, T.C. Doherty, A. Ghiglieri, Roland Sanger, Frank Tomsic, and the Misses Mildred Cliff, Dorothy Cliff, Virginia Isbell, Gwenn Shearer and Geraldine Ghiglieri.
Two showers were previously given, a linen shower, with Miss Helen Box the hostess, and a kitchen shower when Miss Virginia Isbell complimented the attractive bride-to-be.

Cliff-Williams Nuptials Take Place Sunday
Short on days but long on sentiment is February for Miss Mildred Cliff and Joseph T. Williams, for the marriage of this popular couple is to be solemnized this Sunday morn at nine o’clock.
With charming simplicity while Mrs. Laura Cliff, aunt of the bride, plays the Lohengrin wedding march and just following the singing of “I Love You Truly” by Mrs. Roland Sanger, cousin of the bride, the nuptial vows will be exchanged at the Federated Church before an altar banked with lovely arrangements of gladioli in pastel shades. Rev. William Moll Case will read the marriage rites.
The bride, a striking brunette, will be gowned in powder blue, daytime length, with French accent of fuschia in her accessories. A corsage of gardenias and valley lilies will adorn her costume.
She will walk altarward on the arm of her father, Mr. Fred L. Cliff.
Her sole attendant will be her sister, Dorothy Cliff, who will wear a frock of Romantic fuschia with contrasting accessories and corsage of fuschia cyclamen and blue bovardia.
Standing with the benedict-elect as best man will be his brother-in-law, Mr. Frank Tomsic.
Immediately following the ceremony a breakfast for some sixty guests will take place at the El Cortez. The formal table will be centered with a large bride’s cake with silver wedding bell atop and on either side will be small vases of pink and white sweet peas.
The bride’s mother, Mrs. Fred L. Cliff of Washoe Valley, will receive her guests in a blue print ensemble and corsage of deep pink roses. The bridegroom’s mother, Mrs. Joe Williams, has chosen a costume in all black and will wear a corsage of violets.
Parties galore have feted the couple since the announcement of their engagement. The bride-elect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Cliff of Washoe Valley. She attended the University, where she is a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Williams, also attended the University of Nevada and is a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He is now the manager of the Lake Street Pharmacy.
The justweds will leave for a honeymoon “somewhere” on the coast. Upon their return they will occupy an attractive apartment at 652 Forest Avenue, where they will be at home to their many friends after March the first.
