Robert W. Reed passed away peacefully October 5, 2011. Bob was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming September 25, 1932 to Joseph and Florence Reed. He is preceded in death by 2 brothers: William and Joseph, and his son, Kenneth. He is survived by his wife, Mildred; daughter, Carol Hixson; sister, Ellen; grandchildren: Randy Hixson, Laura Pilato, and Kelly Comer; great grandsons, Kenneth and Isaiah Comer and great-granddaughter, Whitney Pilato. In 1950, Bob went to college at the University of Northern Colorado on a basketball scholarship. After 2 years, he joined the Navy and was honorably discharged after 4 years of service. He married Mildred Royce in 1956 and then moved to Laramie, Wyoming to attend University of Wyoming studying engineering and pharmaceutical, graduating in 1962. Shortly after, they moved to Fort Collins, Colorado and became a pharmacist and owner of Poudre Drug Company. Bob was a very active member of the Fort Collins community. He was an active member and 1st president of the Sertoma Club, and the founder and president of the Sertoma Christmas program. Bob was also one of 3 candidates for Community Builder of the Year. Bob was a very caring person admired by many friends and family. He was much loved and will be truly missed by many. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bob Reed Christmas Memorial Fund in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, Colorado 80524.
