George Cannon, 88, Dies: Played Organ for Church
George A. Cannon of 88 Seth Green Drive, a music teacher and church organist here for more than half a century, died Friday (July4, 1969) in the Baird Nursing Home.

Mr. Cannon, 88, a life resident of Rochester, gave piano lessons in many private homes.

He once played organ at the old Memorial Presbyterian Church, and later was organist at First Church of Christ, Disciples, Amherst Street and Monroe Avenue, for many years.

Mr. Cannon, formerly of 15 Phelps Ave., was a member of Lake Avenue Baptist Church.

July 4, 1969, George A. Cannon of 88 Seth Green Drive. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Emma Cannon; two daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Lois) Alhart and Mrs. Arthur (Dorothy) Jordan; one son, Elwood M. Cannon; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two brothers, Arnold of Long Beach California, and William Cannon, several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Charles L. Younglove Funeral Home, Inc., 1511 Dewey Avenue. Service Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., Reverend Charles A. Thunn officiating. Interment, White Haven Memorial Park. Friends wishing may contribute to the Memorial Fund of Lake Avenue Baptist church.
