Virgie Maxwell, 84, of Jonesboro, AR., died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 25, 1928, in Trumann, AR., to James and Melinnie Bowman Davis.
She had lived her lifetime in Jonesboro and was a Baptist. She was a secretary and a member of the Eastern Star, member of the Amaranch and elder of the Lost Cherokee of Arkansas and Missouri. She was a strong prayer warrior, did prison ministry and sung in the Maxwell family gospel group.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Maxwell Sr., four brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include her sons, William K. Maxwell Jr. and wife Janice of Williford, Les D. Maxwell and wife Phyllis of Jonesboro, and David Craig and wife Jean of Jonesboro; daughters, Darleene Powell and Kaye Hansen and husband Jerry, all of Jonesboro; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grand-children; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service were held at Emerson Memorial Chapel. Burial was in Gibson Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
