Notes for Hendrick SPIER
The eldest child of Jan and Maria Spier was born at Pemmerpough and was first to be baptized in the church there. After he married Sarah Dey in 1709, they lived on a farm at Wesel which he had purchased from his father. In 1714 he was allotted an extension of land which ran to the riverbank. From the ownership of this property, he formed a partnership with Johannes Juralman and erected a mill on the site. Later in life he moved to Lower Preakness or Pacquanac probably due to his wife inheriting joint ownership of a farm there from her mother and step-father, George Reyerse. He was given the right to vote in Bergen County in 1715, being vouched for by George Reyerse. Hendrick died without a will and his son Theunis was appointed to administer his estate.
