Melba Marie Werremeyer HUNTINGBURG, Ind.
Melba Werremeyer , 88, of Huntingburg, died Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. She is survived by two children, Jack (Barbara) Werremeyer and Joni (Jay) Zarnoth both of Dale; and sister, June Seufert of Holland. Preceded in death by husband, Maurice "Pete" Werremeyer and brother, Ray Roesner. Funeral 10:00 am, EST, Wednesday, March 7th at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland; burial at St. James Lutheran Cemetery. Melba Marie Werremeyer, 88, Huntingburg
Melba Marie Werremeyer, 88, of Huntingburg, passed away at 5:52 a.m., on Saturday, March 3, 2018, in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

She was born September 24, 1929, in Holland to Edmund and Edna (Werrmeyer) Roesner; and married Maurice E. “Pete” Werremeyer on August 20, 1950, at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland.

Melba worked at General Electric in the 1950-60s and then worked as a teacher’s assistant and secretary at Maple Park Elementary School in Huntingburg.

She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Holland where she was church organist of 60+ years.

Melba enjoyed flower gardening, especially roses and day lilies, and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maurice “Pete” Werremeyer, who passed away November 12, 2017; and her brother Ray Roesner, who passed away February 7, 2028.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jack R. (Barbara) Werremeyer of Dale; one daughter and son-in-law, Joni M. (Jay) Zarnoth of Dale; one sister, June Seufert of Holland; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.

Funeral services for Melba Werremeyer will be held at 10 a.m. EST on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland, with burial to follow at St. James Lutheran Cemetery. Reverend David Darling and Reverend Ed Wicks will officiate at the service.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 4 to 8 p.m. EST on Tuesday, March 6.

Melba Roesner Bride of Maurice Werremeyer

Miss Melba Roesner became the bride of Maurice Werremeyer in a double ring ceremony at 6:30 P.M. Sunday, August 20, in St. James Lutheran Church, Holland.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Roesner, Holland, and Mr. Werremeyer is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Werremeyer, Route 1, Huntingburg.
Rev. H.W. Schroeder officiated before the altar decorated with gladioli and other garden flowers.
Miss Henrietta Loewenstein played organ number including “To An Evening Star,” “Liebestraum,” “Because” and the traditional wedding marches.
Donald Hemmer sang “I Love You Truly,” “At Cana, Lord, Thou Didst Appear,” “Oh, Perfect Love,” and as the couple knelt at the altar he sang “The Lord’s Prayer.”
The bride, given in marriage, by her father, wore a slate gray gabardine suit with black accessories. She wore rhinestone earrings and a rhinestone necklace, gifts of the groom. She carried a purple-throated orchid on a white satin prayer book from which fell white ribbons tied in lover’s knots.
The bride carried out the traditional “something old, new, borrowed and blue.”
Mrs. Ralph Rebber served as matron-of-honor and wore a gabardine suit of claret wine with black accessories. She carried white carnations.
Ralph Rebber was best man and Ray Roesner, brother of the bride served as usher.
Mrs. Roesner and Mrs. Werremeyer, mothers of the bride and groom respectively were both dressed in black and wore corsages of white carnations.
The wedding dinner following the ceremony was served at the Holland Dairy Bar for the bridal party and immediate families.
Mrs. Werremeyer is a graduate of Holland high school class of 1947 and is now employed at General Electric at Huntingburg. The groom is a graduate of Stendal high school, class of 1945 and is now employed at Holland Custard and Ice Cream Co. at Holland.
