W. Glenn Leitch Chosen Commander – Funeral of Mrs. LevanWILSON, Nov. 14 – ....[Legion business]
The funeral of Mrs. Mary E. Levan, 83 years old who died at Albany on Monday was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Weaver of Lake Avenue on Wednesday afternoon, November 13th at 3:00 o’clock, the Rev. Fay H. Chapman, pastor of the local Methodist Church officiating. The burial was at Greenwood Cemetery, Wilson.
Mrs. Levan spent the greater part of her life in Wilson and was well known here where she has been prominent in social and patriotic circles. She was the widow of the late Justice Lynford D. Levan who spent the last 25 years of his life at Albany where he was connected with the Adjutant General’s office but always considered his home to be at Wilson.
Mrs. Levan survived her husband by about six years. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Merle P. Hyde and Mrs. O.D. Johnson both of Batavia, Mrs. Floyd Reynolds of Delmar and Miss Edith J. Levan of Albany; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grand children and two sisters, Mrs. Oscar Drinkwater of Chicago and Mrs. Sarah Crawford of Wilson.
