Notes for James Almar Heinrich & Hazel (Family)
Herald (Arlington Heights, Illinois) 24 June 1930
Palatine Teacher Bride of J. McElhose
Miss Hazel Moyers of Mound City, Illinois, and Mr. James McElhose of Arlington Heights, were married in the McElhose home on North Evergreen avenue, Sunday, June 22, at three o’clock in the afternoon, their former pastor and friend, Rev. Allan Billman, of Lake Forest solemnizing the marriage rites.
The bride was given in marriage by her brother, W.L. Moyers, of Chicago. Miss Laura McElhose, sister of the bridegroom, was maid of honor. She wore a pretty gown of peach colored flowered chiffon with bouquet of Gailardias and light blue Delphiniums. The bride was prettily gowned in eggshell flowered chiffon, her bouquet Ophelia roses with showers of Philadelphus.
Mrs. H.R. Harper of Chicago, a sister of the bride, sang “The Dawning” just before the ceremony.
Miss Grace Moyers, another sister of the bride from Mound City, played Mendelssohn’s wedding march during the ceremony.
The house was, as you would know, artistically decorated as only Miss Laura could arrange it with Snapdragons, peonies and roses. The only guests were brothers, sisters, and their families.
Dinner was served at six o’clock and was all a quiet home wedding dinner should be.
On account of the bridegroom’s business employment, which allows no vacation for the month, the wedding trip will be sensibly postponed.
The bride has taught in Palatine the past 4 years, and some of the time made her home in Arlington Heights, where she has won many friends.
Mr. James McElhose, whose parents and family are of the respected citizens, has all of our citizens as staunch friends. Many of our trees from the Klehm nurseries were set by “Jim”, long the faithful right hand helper in the Klehm nurseries. He served in the war overseas and is at present in a fine position at Arlington Park. Everybody wishes all that is for helpfulness and happiness in the life of Mr. and Mrs. James McElhose.
Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. H.R. Harper and son, Billie, and Mr. W.L. Moyers, Mr. Frank Blimehl [sic] and daughter, Miss Myrtel of Chicago; Mr. R.D. Moyers, Wheaton; Miss Lois Moyers, of East St. Louis, and Miss Grace Moyers of Mound City.
