Notes for Clarence E. & Rose M. (Family)
The Daily Herald (Chicago, Illinois) 16 July 1948
Miss Rose Mary Grana, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Doolittle, Chicago, was married July 3, to Clarence McElhose, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed McElhose of Arlington Heights. The ceremony was held at the Jefferson Park Gospel church, with Pastor Herbert E. Kyrk officiating. Palms and candelabra decorated the church.
During the ceremony Les Headman sang “Because” and “Always,” accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Marge Dunteman.
For her wedding the bride chose a gown of white imported French lace that ended in a train. Her dress was set off with an heirloom veil that was fastened to a crown of orange blossoms. Miss Grana carried a halfmoon bouquet of white roses and stephanotis. Mr. Doolittle gave the bride in marriage.
The bride was attended by Mrs. John E. Stanek as matron of honor. She was attired in a chartreuse rayon organdy dress and had a bouquet of American Beauty roses, tied with a chartreuse ribbon. Bridesmaids were Miss Betty Walters and Miss Karen O’Reilly. They were gowned respectively in orchid and baby blue rayon organdy dresses. Miss Walter’s bouquet was made up of talisman roses and orchid sweetpeas, and was tied with a ribbon to match her dress, while Miss O’Deilly [sic] carried a bouquet yellow roses, tied with baby blue ribbon.
Best man for the bridegroom was his brother, Roger McElhose. Ushers were John E. Stanek and James J. Stanek.
A turkey dinner was served to 80 guests at the Pantry in Park Ridge following the ceremony.
Mr. and Mrs. McElhose are making their home in Des Plaines.
