Betty Redeker Thusius, 63, a resident of Annapolis for 32 years and formerly of Watertown, Wis., and Conover, N.C., died of an intercranial hemorrhage June 29 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a four-day illness.
Mrs. Thusius was born Aug. 10, 1938, in Centralia, Ill. She receive a bachelor of science degree in education from Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, Ill., in 1960 and a master's degree in education from Towson University in 1982.
She taught elementary school at the Concordia Lutheran Church School in Conover from 1960 to 1966 and taught kindergarten at St. Paul Lutheran Church School in Annapolis from 1972 to 1978. She then taught second grade at Rolling Knolls Elementary School from 1978 until retiring in 1998.
She was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Glen Burnie and an active participant in Bible Study Fellowship. Her interests also include golf and reading.
On June 30, 1962, she was married to Roger L. Thusius. Also surviving are two children, Patric Alan Thusius and Ann Marie Thusius of Annapolis; four siblings, Richard Redeker and Eunice Hausler of New Minden, Ill., Luther Redeker of Shattuc, Ill., and Wilma Maschoff of Hoyleton, Ill.; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Glen Burnie. Burial will be in Lakemont Cemetery in Davidsonville.
