Esther L. Powers
MARION --Esther L. Powers, 66, Ruth Avenue, passed away at 4:10 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2004, at her residence.
Born Aug. 31, 1937, in Marion, she was the daughter of Ray and Esther (Lyons) Lucas.
On Jan. 28, 1963, she married Richard L. Powers; he survives in Marion.
She was a housekeeper at Marion Country Club. She attended the Lawrence one-room school, Claridon Elementary and Claridon High school. She was a member of the Marion Women of the Moose and an avid bingo player.
In addition to her husband, she is also survived by a son, Stephen L. (Donna) Powers, Marion; a sister, Blanche Austin, Marion; two brothers, Sheridan Lucas and Robert Lucas, both of Marion; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Beulah Phillips and a brother, Paul Lucas.
The funeral is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger Funeral Home with the Rev. Victoria Powers-Smith officiating. Burial is in Grand Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Marion General Hospital.
