JOHN W. DUNLAP, 84, PIONEER OF COUNTY, PASSES IN OAKLAND
A pioneer Stanislaus County official, John William Dunlap, 84, who resided in Modesto for many years before leaving about two years ago to make his home in OAKLAND, died in the East Bay city last night.
Born in LaGrange on November 9, 1857, Dunlap moved to Oakdale, later coming to Modesto.. He served as a county supervisor and also was selected to the post of county treasurer. Dunlap also served in the sheriff's office for a number of years. He later was engaged in the real estate business here.
Besides a widow, Mrs. Nellie Dunlap, he leaves four children, Mrs. Harry Lucas, Mrs. Eugene Rice and Mrs. Carl Hansen, all of OAKLAND, and E. A. Dunlap of Salinas, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Williams, of Soulsbyville.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock in the chapel of Albert Engel & Company, 3630 Telegraph Avenue, in OAKLAND. Cremation will follow.
