Notes for Walker & Louvena (Family)
Reno Evening Gazette, 2 July 1943, p. 10
Louvena McLean Married at Simple Rite
Hawthorne, July 2 – At a ceremony performed in Yerington on Saturday, June 19, Miss Louvena McLean of Fallon became the bride of Walker Chapman of Hawthorne. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. A.B.C. Nelson of the Baptist church, and attending the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Lester Page of Yerington, former residents of Fallon and Hawthorne and close friends of the couple.

Mrs. Chapman who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.P. McLean, pioneer residents of the Fallon district, is widely known throughout the western part of the state. She attended the University of Nevada and also San Jose state teachers college in California following which she was employed for several years as a teacher in the Fallon schools, a position she still holds. She has been active in the Business and Professional Women’s club at Fallon and numerous other groups.

Mr. Chapman, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. R.W. Chapman of North Caroline, has been a resident of Hawthorne the past twelve years. He came here in 1930 in the service of the United States marines and completed his enlistment in 1936. From 1936 until February 1942, he owned and operated a barber shop in town. Shortly after the outbreak of the current war he disposed of his business and re-enlisted in the marine corps and since has been stationed at the local naval depot in specialist work.

Mr. and Mrs. Chapman returned to Hawthorne following a short wedding trip and while Mrs. Chapman plans to reside here the greater part of the summer, it is her intention to continue teaching at Fallon for the duration of the war.
