Mr. Phelps settled in Salem, Mass., and later in life removed to Reading. Mass., where he d. 12 Dec, 1685. His will by Probate Records, Real estate inventoryed , £365, 12s., left wife, Abigail, and 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 7th children men- tioned. John Phelps was called grandchild in will of Eleanor Tresler, dated 13 Feb., 1655. Her husband, Thomas Tres ler, admitted to Church, 15 Dec, 1639, freeman 27 Dec, 1642, and d. 5 March, 1854. His widow was Eleanor Tresler. Her will names Henry. Nicholas, Edward, two daughters and grandchild, John.
Salem Probate records, Sept. 27, 1666, show settlement of estate of Obadiah Antrum, late deceased, amounting to
His late wife, Martha, appointed administratrix. The estate was ordered divided between John Phelps, son Henry, kinsman, and Hannah, wife of Jacob Burnapp, sister of deceased and the widow. This would show that widow
Abigail Upton was also a sister.
Middlesex Co. Probate records,—" Agreement between Children of John Phelps of Reading, 14 June, 1708, viz: John, Samuel, Henry and Hannah about house and his lot lying on the north side of the township of Reading, and of a river called Ipswich, and joining on Salem on the Eastward."
