Notes for Ann HINDLE
Ann is the only one of the family who seems to have not lost her spouse or had to work to support herself. It is likely that she helped her husband in his business ventures by helping in the saloon and later in the hotel. She married James Norris who was a fish dealer, saloon keeper and proprietor of the Erie Hotel according to censuses and directories. When they were first married they were living in 1860 with James' parents in Ramapo, New York.
Their son Nelson C. Norris was a fire fighter for Paterson who died in 1902. Daughter Annie died a spinster in 1913. The Nelson Norris descendants seem to have spread out from Paterson. We have Nelson's wife's name straightened out thanks to another researcher working on a collateral line. One branch went to Pennsylvania, some seem to have ended up in Washington, another was in Connecticut working for the railroad, and it is possible there are some in Florida.
There are recent additions of members of this family in the census records, particularly the daughters, Fannie and Annie whose families were located with help of two Norris researchers and finding Alfred Norris living with his sister, Fannie, in the census in Connecticut.
