Obituary notes for Erich Paul VIERKANT
Erich Paul Vierkant, Sr., 72, of Paducah passed away at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at his residence. He was born on February 7, 1951 in Morganfield, KY. Erich was retired from Paducah Power System after 27 years of service. He was a member of Zions Cause Baptist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Erich was very instrumental in the installation of the Christmas lights in Noble Park for the past 11 years. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Vietnam War, he was a Kentucky Colonel and a Duke of Paducah.
Erich is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janie Brantley Vierkant; daughter, Jamie Allison Smith and husband, Steven, of Stafford, VA; son, Erich Paul Vierkant, Jr. and wife, Kayce, of Hendersonville, TN; sister, Malinda Marvel of Nashville, TN; brothers, James “Boo” Vierkant of Tampa, FL and Mike Marvel of Louisville, KY; five grandchildren, Tyler Smith, Liam Smith, Erich Luke Vierkant, Fredrick Levi Vierkant and Eva Jewel Vierkant.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Beatrice Moffit Marvel and Charles Gardner Marvel; father, Hurst Rudolph Vierkant.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2023 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Dr. Charles Frazier officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Rosebud United Methodist Church Cemetery in Crittenden County, KY.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
