Notes for Jan BERDAN Jr.
After the birth of eldest child Marretje, Jan and Eva moved to Hackensack. Jan purchased, on 9 June 1708, all the tract between Isaac Van Giesen's north line and the King's Road (Passaic Street) in Hackensack. In 1717 he built his permanent home in Hackensack (which formerly stood on Camden Street) on his 1708 land purchase. Jan was a Justice of the Peace for Bergen County for many years, including 1716, 1720, 1721, 1723-7, 1731 and probably other years.
