HOLLAND -- Harry H. Beumer, age 91, of Holland, Indiana, died at 9 a.m., Sunday, November 21, 2004, at The Waters of Huntingburg nursing center in Huntingburg.
He was born on September 22, 1913, in Holland, Indiana, to E. Fred and Emma (Weitkamp) Beumer. He was united in marriage to Catherine Hildebrand on May 26, 1955, in Zoar, Indiana. Mr. Beumer was a retired construction worker, who had worked for the Holland Lumber Company and latter in the construction of Lake Helmerich Village. For forty years, he was also a substitute rural mail carrier. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Holland, where he served on the church council, the planning committee for the new parsonage, and as Sunday school treasurer.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Young Beumer, who died on March 5, 1951; by two brothers, Frank Beumer and a brother who died in infancy; by two sisters, Marie Schroeder and Lilly Beumer; and by one daughter-in-law, Nancy Beumer.
He is survived by one son, Harry Michael and wife, Shirley Beumer, Holland, Ind.; one daughter, Dee Ann McKinney and longtime companion, Bud Hubster, Holland, Ind.; three grandchildren, Janet and husband, Rick) Kamman, Huntingburg, Ind., Jill and husband, Steve Miles, Holland, Ind., and Mary Beumer, Indianapolis, Ind.; 2 stepgrandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and a stepgreat-grandchild.
Funeral services for Harry Beumer will be held at 11 a.m. EST Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Holland, with burial to follow in St. Paul's Cemetery in Holland. The Rev. Karen Miers will officiate the funeral service.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 3 to 8 p.m. EST Tuesday and at St. Paul's United Church of Christ one hour prior to the funeral service Wednesday morning. Memorial contributions may be made out to family wishes or to a favorite charity.
