DEATHS
E. Fred Beumer, 63, brother of Henry Beumer of near Evansville, and owner of the Holland, Ind., Planing Mill, died Thursday of heart disease.
Also surviving are: the widow, Emma; daughters, Mrs. Gilbert Schroder and Miss Lily Beumer; sons, Frank and Harry, Holland; a sister, Mrs. Rieka Allinger, Carlsbad, N.M.; brothers, Frank, Holland, and August, Oklahoma, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the home, with continued services in St. Paul’s Evangelical Church near Holland, Rev. L. Schnuck officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.

HOLLAND – Ernest Fred Beumer, owner of the Holland Planing Mill and affiliated with many other businesses here, died at his home on Thursday morning of last week as the result of a heart attack. He was 63 year old.
Ernest Fred Beumer, the son of William and Wilhelmina Werremeyer Beumer, was born January 27, 1875, at Lengerich, Preussen, Germany. At the age of six he came with his parents to this country, and settled on a farm in Dubois county.
On April 14, 1889 he renewed his baptism by confirmation under the instruction of Rev. Val Ziemer in St. Paul’s church in this community, of which he remain a member until his death.
On December 13, 1889, he was united in marriage to Mary Buddemeyer, the Rev. A. Merkle reading the ceremony.
On February 17, 1902 twins, (Frank and Marie) were born to their union. Two days later the mother died leaving a sad and broken hearted father.
On July 30, 1903, Mr. Beumer was united in marriage with Emma Weitkamp. This union was blessed with three children, a daughter, Lilly, and a son, Harry, and one son who died in infancy.
At the age of 17 he began working as a carpenter with August Wibbler of Holland, and later took up this trade as a contractor. In 1905 he became a partner of Henry Lammers in the planing mill and lumber business and two years later became sole owner of The Holland Planing Mill, in which he was engaged for 46 years.
At the time of his death he was a director and an appraiser of the Holland Home Mutual Fire Ins. Co., a member of the Holland Business Men’s Association, a director in the Dubois County Fair Association and a director of the Bretzville Canning Co. He was a charter member of Camp No. 3262, Modern Woodmen of America.
Throughout his life he made a host of friends by always being ready to lend a helping hand to the needy and unfortunate.
During the ministry of the Rev. H. Juergens he assisted in organizing the church choir, serving as organist for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Emma; two sons, Frank and Harry; two daughters, Mrs. Gilbert Schroeder and Miss Lilly, all of Holland; two grandchildren, Robert and Richard Schroeder; one sister, Mrs. Rieka Allinger of Carlsbad, New Mexico; three brothers, August of Gage, Okla., Henry of Evansville and Frank of Holland. His olest sister Minnie of Cleveland, Ohio, and two other sisters, Sophia and Anna preceded him in death.
