Henry Weinrich, Resident Since 1864 Dies At His Home
Henry Weinrich, age 94, Arlington’s oldest citizen and one of its early pioneers, died at his home Sunday, after several week’s illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday.
Born in Germany Mr. Weinrich came to Chicago when a boy of seven, and to Arlington Heights in 1864, where he established his home. He took an active part in the organization of the village in the early days and was one of it s first board members.
He was a tinsmith by trade, an occupation which he followed steadily for a period of 72 years, retiring at the age of 87. Originally he and the late Charles Taege were in business together and when their partnership was dissolved he went to work for Bray & Kates. Afterward he came into the employ of the late Albert Landmeier where he remained for a period of 25 years.
One of the oldest members of the St. Peter congregation he was recognized as one of its most faithful members. He participated in the Pioneer services of that church held as part of the 75th anniversary.
