With the passing of Mrs. Henrietta Geffert, nee Weinrich, there are many prominent citizens of Arlington Heights who recall their first school days when she was the instructor of the lower grades of St. Peter Lutheran school. It was before the days of grades and the age of the children determined the class in which they would be assigned.
Henrietta Weinrich assisted the late Fred Militzer, as school teacher. She taught nine years, from 1882 until her marriage to Rev. Geffert in 1891.
Among her pupils were J. Fred Meyer, J.D. Flentie, Mrs. Henry Clausing, and others.

Henrietta Geffert, nee Weinrich, of 204 W. St. James st., Arlington Heights, passed away at the Palatine hospital, Friday morning, April 18, at the age of 73 years, 9 months, and 14 days.
Mrs. Geffert was born July 14, 1867 in Arlington Heights, received her education and was confirmed at the St. Peter Ev. Lutheran school and church at Arlington Heights.
She was united in marriage to Rev. Frank Geffert, November 18, 1891 at Arlington Heights by Rev. Roeder of the St. Peter Lutheran church. After marriage this couple went to Howard City, Michigan, to make their home and in 1894 Rev. Geffert accepted a call to Reed City, Michigan; Rev. Geffert passed away April 26, 1907, after which time Mrs. Geffert and her nine children came to make their home in Arlington Heights, where have lived since.
She leaves to mourn her departure her nine children, Miss Julia Geffert, Mrs. Edna Kehe, Mrs. Verra Lackner, Mrs. Hilda Karstens, Mrs. Lydia Schroeder, and Mrs. Martha Winkelmann, all of Arlington Heights; Rev. Rudolph Geffert of Harvey; Mrs. Esther Reinke of Fort Wayne, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; two daughters-in-law; six sons-in-law; two sisters and five brothers.
She was resting at Karstens funeral home, Arlington Heights; services were Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at St. Peters Lutheran church at Arlington Heights; interment was in St. Peters Lutheran cemetery.
