Notes for Elmer Charles & Hilda Ann (Family)
Herald (Arlington Heights, Illinois) 11 July 1930
Henriette Geffert [mother’s name] Is Bride of Elmer Karstens

Miss Hilda, daughter of Mrs. Henriette Geffert was married to Mr. Elmer Karstens, a brother of Walter Karstens, July 2, by the bride’s brother [sic], Rev. R.L. Geffert at Harvey, Illinois, who ministers to a church there. The wedding was a quiet affair with only the bride’s mother attending. Soon after the ceremony the newly married pair left to spend a few days at Lake Geneva, since the bridegroom’s duties at this time did not allow a longer vacation. The bride was becomingly gowned in a pretty shade of green moire silk with accessories to match.

Mrs. Geffert came here a widow with a baby six weeks old, her husband a preacher having died leaving her with nine children the eldest fourteen. There must be something of heroic quality in this mother. A careful home maker, she carefully taught and trained her family into wise and industrious ways and as they grew older they have gone into helpful positions. Two of her sons are respected ministers of the Gospel; four of her daughters are married and all are helpful and respected.

This new son-in-law, Elmer Karsten was born here and left when his father, who was an undertaker, went to another place. Elmer conducts an auto laundry in Arlington Heights.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Karstens are now at home in the Vail-Davis apartment.

Their many friends join with us in wishing them a happy active, prosperous life.
