Herman William McElhose, 62, of 710 Eureka St., Waterloo, Iowa, formerly of Arlington Heights, died early Saturday morning, Jan. 20, 1973 in St. Francis Hospital, Waterloo, Iowa, after a short illness. He was born Nov. 29, 1910, in Marathon City, Wis.
He was employed as an engineering draftsman for John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works in Waterloo. Prior to moving to Waterloo in 1940, he was the owner of the Mimeograph and Poster Shop in Elmhurst. During the depression he ran a small newspaper from his home in Arlington Heights call the Reminder. Also, Mr. McElhose was the first Eagle Scout in Arlington Heights.
Memorial services were held Monday afternoon in Parrott and Wood Funeral Chapel, Waterloo. Officiating was the Rev. Egar Kruse of Grace Lutheran Church, Waterloo. Interment was in Waterloo Cemetery, Waterloo.
Surviving are his widow, Mabel, nee Fleming; two sons, Barry and daughter-in-law, Karin McElhose and Alan and daughter-in-law, Elaine McElhose of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Mrs. Kim (Milton) Happel of Readlyn, Iowa, and Mrs. Sally (Edward) Ahrens of Spring Valley, Minn.; nine grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Virginia (Ralph) Herzog of Hays, Kan.; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Pauline, nee Reimer, McElhose.
