Florence McElhose Is Married by Grandfather
Miss Florence McElhose, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur McElhose, who was married Saturday to Mr. Reuben Middleborn, son of Mr. and Mrs. August Middleborn of Chicago, had the unusual privilege of having the service performed by her paternal grandfather, the Rev. H.W. Reimer of Reedsburg, Wisconsin.
The service was read at four o’clock on Saturday afternoon, November 25, in the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, before an altar decorated for the occasion with chrysanthemums, in the presence of the immediate families of the bride and groom.
The bride who was gowned in eggshell brides satin, carried a shower bouquet of white roses, lilies of the valley and sweet peas. She wore a blush veil which was held in place by a tiara of roses. She was given in marriage by her father. Miss Virginia McElhose, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor, and wore an aqua dress of georgette crepe, and carried token roses.
Frederick Middleborn, brother of the groom, served as best man.
Following the wedding ceremony a dinner was served to the wedding party and guests at the McElhose home, which was decorated with many lovely flowers for the occasion.
Florence attended school in Arlington Heights graduating with the class of ‘34 and since has been employed in Chicago.
The groom is employed with the Acne Steel Co. of Chicago and the young couple will make their home on the south side of Chicago.
