Mrs. Emma Thusius, 78, died this morning at her home 522 1-2 North Washington street. She was the widow of the Rev. Carl Thusius who died here in 1945.
Mrs. Thusius was the former Emma Hoffmann and was born in Germany on Sept. 13, 1871, coming to this country at the age of 17. She and the Rev. Mr. Thusius were married on Nov. 26, 1890. She had resided here since 1927.
Three daughters and four sons survive, Miss Hertha Thusius, this city; Mrs. Edward Zastrow, Nashotah;, Mrs. Frank Lenling, Hartland; Henry Thusius, this city; the Rev. Oscar Thusius, Delavan; John Thusius, Portage; and Eberhardt Thusius, St. Charles, Ill.
There are 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. There is one sister, Mrs. Martha Mackbarth, South Bend, Ind.
Mrs. Thusius was a member of St. John’s Lutheran church and the Ladies Aid society.
Private funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hafemeister funeral home after which the body will be taken to St. John’s church to lie in state until 2 p.m. when the services will be conducted. The Rev. M.A. Bertermann will officiate. Interment will be in the Lutheran cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 3 to 9 p.m. and Saturday forenoon prior to the service and later at the church up to 2 p.m.
