William C. Foltz
William C. Foltz, a life-long resident of this community and one of German township’s well known citizens, died at his home on West Plymouth street Thursday night after being bedfast only a week. He had been failing in health, however, for a long time.
Mr. Foltz was the son of John A. and Leah (Lehr) Foltz and was born in this township March 4, 1864. On Jan. 30, 1890, he was united in marriage with Josephine V. Wahl, who survives. Surviving also are three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Gass and Miss Malinda McConnell of Bremen and Mrs. Mary Haas of Stevensville, Mich.
For many years Mr. Foltz lived on his farm just west of Bremen. In 1914 he built the home at the west edge of town which he and Mrs. Foltz have occupied ever since. He was active in Democratic political affairs and at one time received a tie vote as his party’s nominee for township trustee. He became postmaster of Bremen in 1913, serving one four-year term and a part of a second term, when he resigned.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in St. Paul’s Lutheran church of which he was a member since boyhood. Rev. W.T. Vogel officiated in the service. Burial was in the Bremen cemetery.
