Death
On February 20th, 1888, Death visited us and took away one of our brightest flowers, Vida Fay, only child of Dr. G.F. and E.P. Wahl, age two years, two months and thirteen days. Vida was a child of quick perceptions, always on the alert to observe new things and gain a knowledge of something more. Not bashful in the presence of strangers and always ready to form new acquaintances. She had a bright eye, a pleasant fact and friends innumerable. She was not only the pet of the household and near relatives, but also of the neighbors. Her mind, boy and soul was as pure as the flowers that decorated her casket. Why one so bright, so lively, so active should be taken away, is a mystery. Our supposition is that the Master has something better for such in the mansions above. We believe it was
“Not in anger, not in wrath,
The Reaper came that day;
Visited the green earth,
And took the flower away.”
While we thus hope and believe, we feel deeply our loss, and can assure the parents that they have the sympathy of their friends and neighbors.
