SHEPHERD – Mrs. Josephine M. Shepherd, Oct. 20 at Grant hospital: beloved mother of Josephine M. Shepherd and Mrs. John F. Cuneo, beloved sister of Mrs. John R. Lee and Leo Morris. Funeral Thursday from her late residence, 3300 Lake Shore drive, to Our Lady of Mount Carmel church, 690 Belmont-av., 11 o’clock. Interment Calvary.

Mrs. Shepherd Dies; Mother of Mrs. J. F. Cuneo

Mrs. Josephine M. Shepherd, 3300 Lake Shore drive, mother-in-law of John F. Cuneo, president of the Cuneo Press, Inc., died yesterday at the Grant hospital after a long illness which began last January while she was spending the winter in Californit [sic]. Mrs. Shepherd was the daughter of M.J. Morris of New York and Paterson, N.J. As a young woman she was a musician of note. For many years she lived in Milwaukee. In 1916 she divorced her husband, the late Fred R. Shepherd, president of Crerar, Adams & Co, railroad supply dealers.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Julia Cuneo and Miss Josephine Shepherd; two grandchildren, John F. Cuneo Jr. and Consuela Cuneo, and a sister, Mrs. John R. Lee. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel church at 11 o’clock tomorrow morning with burial at Calvary cemetery.

Michael J. Morris’ home, at Ward and Cross streets, was the scene at half past seven last evening of the wedding of Mr. Morris’ daughter, Josephine Marie, and Fred Reid Shepherd, of Chicago. The ceremony was performed at 7:30 by Rev. Dean McNulty, assisted by Rev. J. P. Morris, of Avondale, uncle to the bride.

The house was completely transformed with the floral decorations. The walls were literally hidden beneath coverings of flowers. Many leading society people of Paterson were in attendance, besides visitors from other places.

Mr. Shepherd was attended by Thomas Edward Smith, of Paterson, as best man. The ushers were Isaac A. Hall, Paterson; Colonel Peter H. Corr, Taunton, Mass., Edward Nesbitt Smith, Chicago; Erastus Blauvelt, Paterson; Leo M. Morris, Paterson, and Harry Lewis, Brooklyn.

The bride’s gown was of white satin, trimmed with duchess and point lace, with tulle veil. She wore a sunburst of diamonds, the gift of the bridegroom, and carried a bouquet of orchids and lilies of the valley, tied with gauze ribbon. In her hair was a jeweled comb, the gift of her uncle. The maid of honor, Miss Julia Shepherd, wore piuk[sic] silk mull, with point lace and crushed roses, and carried a bouquet of Golden Gate roses and orchis. Ms. M.J. Morris, the bride’s mother, wore light gray brocaded silk and duchess lace. Mrs. Edward S. Shepherd, the bridegroom’s mother, wore a black spangled lace gown over light green silk. The bridegroom’s gifts to his best man and the ushers were diamond pins, in the design of a shepherd’s crook. The bride’s gift to her maid of honor was a fleur-de-lis diamond pin.

Davis served the repast. Bridal favors of small white fans were given to each guest. The immediate group of friends seated at the bride’s table were given small silver loving cups for the men, engraved with the initials of the bride and groom; the lades received silver bells surmounted by a small cupid.

At 7:30 o’clock last night Miss Josephine Marie Morris, the youngest daughter of Mr. Michael J. Morris became the bride of Frederick Reid Sheppard of Chicago.

The ceremony was performed in the parlor of the home of the bride’s parents, 41 Ward street, in the presence of the friends of both the bride and groom by the Rev. Dean McNulty assisted by the Rev. Father J.P. Morris of Avondale.

The house was magnificently decorated as told in yesterday’s issue of The News.

Immediately after the ceremony a supper was served to the couple and guests, who were seated at a number of small tables accommodating four, and which surrounded a large one seating ten at which the bride and groom sat with their immediate families.

The menu was:

Immediately after the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Sheppard left on a wedding tour which will occupy three weeks, at the end of which they will go to a home awaiting them in Chicago.
