Death Takes J.C. Becker
Jack C. Becker, 68, member of a pioneer Reno family and retired businessman, died this morning in a Reno hospital. He had been a patient for eight days.
A native of Reno, Mr. Becker was the son of the late Jacob and Rose Becker, who owned a ranch and Becker’s tavern on Commercial Row. His great grandparents originally owned the University of Nevada farm site. He was born April 20, 1890.
Mr. Becker was a lifelong resident of the community and was educated in Reno schools. He was in the produce business here for several years. Later he was employed at PABCO wher [sic] he retired three years ago. Mr. Becker was a member of Reno Lodge 597, BPOE.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Frances Becker of Reno; two sons, Dr. John Becker and William E. Becker and his daughter, Mrs. Florence Gilbert, all of Reno; three grandchildren, Deborah Collings, Kim and Bridget Becker, all of Reno; three sisters, Mrs. Rose Heidtman and Mrs. Lou Erbs of Reno and Mrs. Elizabeth Davey of San Francisco. He was preceded in death several years ago by his brother, Charles Becker of San Francisco.
Funeral services will be in the Ross-Burke Co. chapel Monday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mountain View cemetery.
