Donald Glen Heidtman
Donald Glen Heidtman, age 87, passed away on June 4, 2008. Donald was a native of Reno where he lived all his life. He was the son of State Senator Harry Claude Heidtman and owned and operated several family businesses in his early life. In later life, he devoted his time to travel and outdoors activities that included hunting trips to Africa and winning many awards in trap shooting and hunting. Much of his leisure time was spent in Mexico where he maintained a residence with his wife Joan who passed away in October of last year. He was also a skilled aviator with a Commercial Pilot’s license that he used to travel throughout the US and Mexico.
Donald is survived by his daughter, Sherrie Lyn Baker and her husband, James R.C. Baker, his son, Harry Claude Heidtman, who are Reno residents. He has three grandchildren, Donald J. Heidtman Jr., Emily M. Scheissl, and David R. Scheissl II. Donald Jr. is in San Diego, Emily lives in Tahoe City and David is in the US Army currently serving at Ft. Campbell; Molly Scheissl, daughter of Emily Scheissl is his only great-grandchild.
Donald was a member of several organizations including; Reno Lodge No. 13 of the Free and Accepted Masons of Nevada, a 43 year member of the Elks, as well as a lifetime member of the NRA.
