Wendell Miehle, Stockman and Rancher, Dies After Forty Years’ Activity
Wendelin Miehle, who came to Helena from Virginia City in 1864 died yesterday at noon in his home in this city of a complication of ailments intensified by old age. He was born in Germany 79[?] years ago, but came to this country in his youth and moved westward in the old days of the prairie schooner and the gold mining excitement of ’49.
Domestic in his tastes and habits he never mixed with the hurried affairs of western growth, but he was well known of all the old-time cattlemen, miners and setters of Helena. His wife died seven years ago, and he left six children. The are Joseph Miehle, of Helena; Mrs. J. R. Dieterich of Kalispell; Mrs. C.J. Brier of Lewiston, Idaho; Mrs. Edward Walker, of Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Joseph Prill of Spokane, Wash.; and Frank Miehle, of Townsend, Wash.
