Obituary notes for Joseph Wendelin MIEHLE
J.W. Miehle, Retired Rancher, dies
Joseph W. Miehle, 78, of 108 Stewart Homes, retired rancher from Townsend area, died early this morning in St. Peter’s hospital, where he had been a patient since Sunday.
A native of Helena, Mr. Miehle was born Dec. 8, 1877 in Helena the son of Joseph Miehle, and early day miner in the Helena area. He attended schools in Helena and later homesteaded and farmed on the Spokane bench until his retirement in 1942.
On July 16, 1911, he married Grace Baxter in Townsend. Following his retirement from ranching in 1942, the couple moved to Helena to make their home. Mr. Miehle was employed as a custodian at the Presbyterian church and the Union Bank and Trust company.
Survivors include his widow, Grace; a daughter, Josephine Bleed of East Helena; two sons of John R. of East Helena; Joseph W. of Monterey, Calif.; two grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Lou Prill of Minneapolis.
Funeral services are pending. Hagler mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
