Obituary notes for Anna Elizabeth MOFFIT
Our community sadly lost a pillar on Friday, September 24, 2022, when Anna Moffit Morgan Girvin, passed away from natural causes. Born March 3, 1930, she spent her childhood near her beloved Moffit Lake. She was a 1948 graduate of Morganfield High School where she developed her artistic skills.

She was active in the Morganfield United Methodist Church as a choir member and an active volunteer with the United Methodist Women’s organization. Her creative instincts made her the annual chair of the Christmas decorating committee and the Christmas banners she and her sister Bea made years ago are still in use today,

Anna’s talents were many, she was an extremely accomplished artist (painting anything that didn’t move), the family washer-throwing champion, an avid bridge player, an accomplished golfer, a beloved wife, mother, aunt, community volunteer and friend who loved to entertain. She enjoyed baking and cooking for everyone and anyone. She had a fiery spirit that served to strengthen everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Morgan, her son Scott Morgan and her sisters Beatrice Marvel and Peggy Johnstone.

Anna is survived by the loving community of Union County and her husband Sidney Girvin, her stepdaughters Patty Wells (Joe) and Barbara Gorman (Mike) and stepson John Girvin, and her sister-in-law Gloria Morgan. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her nieces and nephews to whom she was more than an aunt, Erich Vierkant (Janie), Jim “Boo” Vierkant (Rhonda), Mike Marvel (Samantha), Melinda Marvel, Nancy Ratay (Gary), David Morgan (Catherine), Mark Morgan (Sue), Frank Morgan (Julie), Rebecca Dyer, Rachel Phipps (Bill) and Beverly Morgan.

Anna’s secret to a happy life was to savor every second she spent with people she loved. In lieu of flowers the family wishes that you spend time with your children, take a walk through the woods with your loved ones, cheer on the Cats and make a toast to enduring friendships lifelong and beyond. That is what Anna would wish for you.

A celebration of life will be held at the Morganfield United Methodist Church on October 8 with visitation from 10-11 and the service at 11.
