Billy Gene Morgan, 74, of Morganfield, died at 2:38 a.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at his residence.

Mr. Morgan was the former manager of Southern States, owner and operator of Morgan's Gas and Oil and lastly the long-time manager of the Union County Water District.

He was a Navy veteran, former Morganfield city councilman, past president of the Union County Fair Board and of the Kentucky Association of Fair and Horse Shows.

Bill was a member of the Morganfield First United Methodist Church, The American Legion Griggs-Alvey Post, the Masonic Lodge and the Morganfield Jaycee's where he served as district director.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Anna Morgan; one son, Scott Morgan of Louisville; and one brother Ben Morgan of Morganfield.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield with Rev. Garland Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in the Odd Fellow Cemetery in Morganfield.

Friends may call from 3 till 7 p.m., today, Wednesday and from 10 a.m. till service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Morganfield First United Methodist Church.
