Elmer R. Young

CHESTERTON - Elmer R. Young 66, 102 Pottawatomie trail died at 2:30 a.m. Sunday in Porter Memorial hospital after an illness of six months.
Born March 12, 1899 in LaPorte county, he was the son of Charles and Sadie Herrold) Young. On June 5, 1920 in LaPorte, he married Virginia Johnson, who susvives [sic].
Young was employed by the New York Central railroad. He was a member of the Portage Christian church. He was ordained a minister in the Christian church in 1933.
Surviving besides the widow are four sons, George, Chesterton, Walter, Porter, and Edward and James, Hobbs, N.M.; 11 grandchildren; and two brothers, Charles and Donald, both of Chesterton.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Carl Edmonde Funeral home with the Rev. Robert Hawkins, Portage Christian church officiating. Burial will be in Chesterton cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today.
