Edward "Eddie" Young
Funeral services for Edward "Eddie" Young of Hobbs, N.M., will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Catherwood Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
Mr. Young, 83, died April 19, 2009, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. He was born Sept. 5, 1925, in Porter, Ind. He married Rose Young in 1994 in Lovington, N.M.
Eddie served as sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was in World War II in Germany and served in the Korean Conflict. He served as past commander of the American Legion. Eddie was an avid bowler and was known as the "Bread Man." He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Young of Hobbs, N.M.; three sons, Dennis Young and wife Holly of Edmond, Okla., Terry Young and wife Christine of Humble, Texas, and Gary Young and wife Laura of Hobbs, N.M.; four daughters, Patty Heady and husband Gary of Hobbs, N.M., Monika Thompson and husband Douglas of Orange Park, Fla., Mary Orquiz and husband Jr. of Artesia, N.M., and Helena Lingafelter and husband Greg of Hobbs, N.M.; two brothers, Jim Young and wife Shelly of Mt. Vernon, Ill., and Walter Young of Cottonwood, Ariz.; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Eddie was preceded in death by his first wife, Darlene Young in 1983; his parents, Elmer and Virginia Young; a brother, George Young; and a sister-in-law, Skeeter Young.
