Carmo M. Johnson, 93, of LaPorte, died Monday, May 2, 2016, at Golden Living Fountainview nursing home in LaPorte. She was born Oct. 9, 1922, in LaPorte to Lloyd Sr. and Onalee (Andrews) Curtis. Carmo retired from Howmet after 31 years in the X-ray department and had previously been employed with the Whirlpool Corporation. On Aug. 1, 1942, she married Richard “Bud” Weidner, who died Feb. 10, 1966. On Nov. 25, 1966, she married Kenneth A. “Nipper” Johnson, who died Aug. 3, 2013. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter; brother, Lloyd Curtis Jr.; sons-in-law, Ray Hamilton and Harry Wikel; and brother-in-law, William McVay. Carmo leaves behind her daughters, Karen Hamilton of Rolling Prairie, IN, Linda (Kevin Hannon) Spier of LaPorte and Sally Wikel of LaPorte; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Sandra McVay of Wakarusa, IN; sister-in-law, Loretta Curtis; and several nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
