Well-Known Bremen Citizen Dies After Long Illness
Once again Death has knocked at our doors and has called to that great beyond one of esteemed citizens, Wm. T. Hans. While his condition for some time had alarmed his friends yet his death came as a rude shock to his neighbors, fellow workmen and fellow townsmen.
William Theodore Hans was born on a farm near Sumption Prairie, Mich. He was the son of Christian and Anna Hans, both of whom are deceased. He was married Jan. 12, 1878 to Margetta [sic] Vollnagle, to which union was born four children, three daughters and one son; one daughter died in infancy. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and one son, namely, Oliver Hans, Mrs. Theo Bauer and Mrs. Cleo Judy[sic]; four grandchildren, all of this place. He also leaves four brothers and three sisters, besides many other relatives and friends. Seventeen years ago he united with the Congregational church under the labors of Rev. D. Leland Sanborn. He has remained a faithful an attentive member of this church from that time. He was a patient and willing sufferer, placing all his faith in a Saviour [sic] who is able to save to the uttermost all who come to Him in faith. His health began failing about eight months ago. Nine weeks ago he was obliged to retire from his accustomed work and from that time has steadily declined altho medical science as applied by physicians at home and in Chicago was faithfully appealed to. The later two weeks were filled with almost continual suffering until he fell asleep in death, May 2, 1908, aged 51 years, one month and 12 days. The funeral occurred Tuesday afternoon at the Congregational church. Rev. J.W. Lake of Grace U.B. church officiating.
