William Kornmayer

Private family services were held for William A. Kornmayer, 68 of Chico, who died Thursday, March 28, 1991, in a local hospital following a short illness.

He was born Feb. 11, 1923, in Reno, Nev., to Frank J. and Freda Davis Kornmayer.

A Chico resident since 1976, he and his wife co-managed the Almond Grove Mobile Home Park.

He served with the U.S. armed forces during World War II and then graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno, in 1949. After graduation, he joined his family business of concrete aggregates and brick masonary contractors.
He married in 1954.

In the 1960s he sold his interest of the family business and was employed as an operation manager for Blake, Moffitt & Towne.

He was a member of the Episcopal church, Reno Lodge No. 13, F&AM, and many other Masonic organizations.

He is survived by his wife Kathryn of Chico; twin daughters, Dr. Karen Wies of Anchorage, Alaska, and Dr. Karla Kornmayer of Salt Lake City, Utah; four sisters, Margaret K. Millard of Elko, Nev., Betty K. Tedford of Fallon, Nev., Mary K. Gensman of Tucson, Ariz., and Freda K. McCullock of Reno; a brother, Frank of Seattle; and four grandchildren.
