After graduating from the university, he followed mining and mill work for several years in the Virginia City and Dayton area, and then came to Reno. He entered the butcher business in Reno with his brothers, Will and George Kornmayer. His brother Will died several years ago.
He continued in the butcher business for several years with his brothers, and then entered the rock and sand business with the Smith & Petersen company. He had been president of the institution since 1933.
Active in masonic affairs, Mr. Kornmayer was a past master of Amity Lodge No. 4, F. & A.M. of Silver City, and was also a past patron of Adah chapter, Order of Eastern Star. He transferred to Reno lodge No. 13, F. & A.M. of Reno and was a member of the Reno Royal Arch Masons, DeWitt Clinton Commandery, Knights Templar, the Scottish Rite bodies of Nevada and Kerak Temple of the Shrine.
On December 25, 1911, Mr. Kornmayer married Miss Freda Davis, who died in 1932. The couple had eight children, seven of whom survive. Mr. Kornmayer married Mrs. W.E. Butler of Reno on August 12, 1938.
