Death Summons Mrs. Lou Erbes

Mrs. Lou M. Erbes, member of a pioneer Reno family, died yesterday in a local hospital where she had been a patient for almost three months.

A native of Reno, Mrs. Erbes attended Reno Public schools and was graduated from the University of Nevada.

Mrs. Erbes was the daughter of the late Jacob and Rose Becker, ranchers and former owners of Becker’s Tavern on Commercial Row. Her grandparents originally owned the University of Nevada’s farm site.

She was the wife of the late Phillip A. Erbes, a San Francisco businessman and honorary member of the Kerak Temple of the Shrine. He was a past potentate of the Islam Temple in San Francisco.

After her husband’s death, Mrs. Erbes moved to Reno from San Francisco to live with her sister, Mrs. H.C. Heidtman. Her daughter and son-in-law, Col. and Mrs. W.B. Newman, were here from Hawaii to be with her.

Mrs. Erbes is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Rose Heidtman and Mrs. J.W. Davey, San Francisco; a sister-in-law, Mrs. J.C. Becker; a niece, Mrs. Florence Gilbert; and nephews, Dr. John C. Becker and William Becker. Two brothers, J.C. Becker and Charles Becker, died several years ago.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Ross-Burke chapel with the Rev. John T. Ledger Clergyman. The body will be accompanied to Halstead and Co. for committal in Cypress Lawn Cemetery, Sacramento.
