Dr. E.O. Bonsteel Died in Cleveland

Dr. Edward O. Bonsteel of Cleveland, formerly of Batavia, died on Tuesday (November 4, 1941). While in Batavia, Dr. Bonsteel, then a pharmacist, was employed at the Cooley & Gould drugstore and when Mr. Cooley retired, Dr. Bonsteel formed a partnership with the late Charles R. Gould. Br. Bonsteel left Batavia and went to Cleveland to take up the study of medicine.

Dr. Bonsteel was twice married, his first wife being Grace LeVan, a sister of Mrs. M.P. Hyde of No. 139 Bank street. He is survived by his second wife, whom he married last spring; six children and a sister, Mrs. William Webster of Buffalo.

Dr. E. O. Bonsteel, Physician, Dies, 73
Had Practiced 38 Years at 112th-Superior
Dr. Edward Oliver Bonsteel, 73, a physician here for 38 years, died yesterday at him home, 1840 Van Buren Road, East Cleveland.

Born in Wilson, N.Y., Dr. Bonsteel came here in 1899. He was graduated from Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 1903 and soon after his graduation opened an office at E. 112th Street and Superior Avenue N.E., where he was still practicing at the time of his death.

In the World War, when the influenza epidemic was at its height, Dr. Bonsteel interrupted his practice to serve in this area as a captain in a special detail of the United States Medical Corps.

He was a member of the Cleveland Kiwanis Club, the Cleveland Club and the American Legion.

Surviving him are his wife, Amy Z.; two daughters, Ruth Bonsteel and Mrs. Marian Like; four sons, Lloyd and Leo of Washington and Merle and Ralph of Cleveland, and a sister, Mrs. Jessie Webster of Buffalo.

Services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at William Abel & Sons Co. funeral home, 15333 Euclid Avenue, East Cleveland.

Bonesteel-LeVan
At the home of the bride’s parents in Wilson yesterday occurred the wedding of Mr. E.O. Bonesteel and Miss Grace LeVan, daughter of the popular postmaster at that place Mr. L.D. LeVan.

The groom is a popular young man, raised in Wilson, whiter his parents now reside. He is engaged as prescription clerk for Van Horn, the druggist, at No. 69 Main street. He has a nicely furnished house ready for occupancy on Elm street in this city, where they will reside after their return from a few days’ wedding trip. Many friends will extend congratulations and good wishes for their future welfare and happiness.
